Senior Care Worker – Domiciliary  

Cross Keys Care requires a dedicated and conscientious senior care worker to join our friendly team at Cross Keys Care within the community on a permanent basis. We’re seeking a caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with seniors and assisting them with their daily living activities. 

The role of being a senior carer is an important role within working in the health & social care industry. You will provide care to service users to maximise their independence and choice, participate in their community and support them to monitor their health and wellbeing. As well as supervising and monitoring care workers to ensure the highest standards of care are provided to service users in their own homes.

Please note this will be across 2 services, Community Care (Domiciliary) and Lapwing Apartments (Orton Brimbles).

Description

  • Direct day to day line management of the care workers and trainees including regular debriefs, supervisions and sickness reporting
  • Support the Care Coordinator to ensure adequate staffing of all care calls through rota setting and management and minimising staff down time
  • Assessing the needs and risks of customers to create personal support plans
  • Provide personal care to customers to maximise their independence and choice, participate in their community and support them to monitor their health and wellbeing
  • Ensure the quality of the care service and delivery of support plans through observations and spot checks of care delivery
  • Participate in team meetings and ensure excellent communication throughout the team
  • Ensure full compliance against the CQC’s National Minimum Standards of Quality and Safety
  • Ensuring the adherence to Cross Keys Homes policy and procedures
  • Liaise with family, friends and professionals to ensure inclusion and wellbeing of service users
  • Maintain service users’ files; ensuring all relevant information is kept secure and confidential
  • Working within the terms of Cross Keys Homes safeguarding vulnerable adults’ procedure proactively seek to maintain the safety of customers
  • No job description can cover every issue which may arise, and the post holder is expected to carry out other duties as required from time to time

Essential

  • NVQ3 or above in care or equivalent - desirable (indicate if achieved or working towards) or willing to work towards
  • A good understanding of the needs of older people and confidentiality and data protection
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures relative to work area
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practice in the delivery of personal care services and the CQC’s essential standards of quality and safety
  • Experience of quality checking the working standards of others
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Good IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience/willingness to learn call rostering system on PC
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis
  • Flexibility to provide stand-by cover at short notice in the event of sickness, leave or other absences from colleagues

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a senior care worker role
  • Experience of line managing staff.
  • Knowledge of the local area and relevant support companies

Hours

  • ​Working pattern - 37 hours per week. This includes working five out of seven days including Saturdays and Sundays on a rotational basis
  • Please note this is 50% care and 50% office work (With some flexibility)
  • To provide an on-call service on a rotational basis
